Nantucket Music Festival is a two day celebration of music. It includes many genres of music, representing world renowned and local artists. The Nantucket Music Festival takes place in beautiful Tom Nevers Field overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Nantucket Music Festival includes a variety of artisans with their crafts along with a sumptuous selection of food and drink.

Founder and Team

Cynthia LinkedIn2929 Cynthia Dareshori — Cynthia has volunteered her time planning events and raising funds for many organizations in Boston and surrounding communities since 1991. Some highlights include chairing events for the Boston Pops, serving as an Overseer at the Gardner Museum, serving on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, where she currently serves as an Honorary Director. Cynthia was a Director of the Wellesley Community Children’s Center. She has chaired, co-chaired and served on committees for numerous fundraising events for the MSPCC, as well as for the Boston Public Library, Literary Lights, United Way of Mass Bay (former Alexis De Tocqueville Society Member), Berkshire Hills Music Academy, Tenacre Country Day School, Dana Hall School, Boston Lyric Opera, Wellesley Free Library, Tenacity, National Charity League and The Laurel Ball.  An avid sailor, she serves on the Board of the America’s Classic 12 Metre Sailing Foundation.

Frist, M.D., is a nationally recognized heart and lung transplant surgeon, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Cressey and Company. Senator Frist represented Tennessee in the U.S. Senate for 12 years where he served on both the Health and Finance committees. Headshot Gene MahonGene Mahon — Gene Mahon is a Nantucket icon. Over his forty-four years on Nantucket, Mahon has owned and operated multiple businesses. Past ventures include The Camera Shop, Pocomo Productions to book and produce music, Pocomo Publishing (prints, restaurant guide and calendars), Nantucket Television, Quintessence Photography Gallery, and the legendary Roadhouse nightclub. Gene is now the publisher of Mahon About Town, and e-newsletter celebrating the best of Nantucket.

Barbara Elder —Barbara Elder is the VP of the Board of Trustees of the Nantucket Community Music Center.  She served as a music teacher and Music Dept. Chair of the Nantucket Public Schools for 25 years.  She is an active musician on the island as a conductor, pianist and composer.

Tom Dickson — Tom Dickson has owned and managed several businesses on Nantucket including a video shop, a museum shop, and a camera shop. His community service work has included the Beach Management Advisory Committee and the Nantucket Ice Board. He was instrumental in starting the Chanticleer Summer Jazz series.

Headshot Mark FamiglioMark Peter Famiglio — Mark P. Famiglio is a native of Philadelphia who first visited Nantucket in the 1970s. Since that time, his great fondness for the island has grown and he spends a significant amount of time at his home here on island.  He has built, owns and manages several million cubic feet of commercial buildings along the West Coast of Florida. He has made significant contributions towards the preservation of environmentally sensitive lands and has been instrumental in saving numerous historically significant properties. Mark is the co-founder and managing member of CopyTalk, a company that provides voice-to-text message delivery through proprietary technology of which he is credited as being co-inventor. Formerly, he was CEO/Principal of Boston Information Technologies. Currently, Mark is the CEO and founder of Cambryn Biologics, a biotherapeutics company. He serves on numerous non-profit boards including the Sarasota Opera, Sarasota Ballet and United Cerebral Palsy, of which he was the President. He has been the Chair of the Van Wezel Foundation (the regional performing arts center) and the current President and Co-Founding Producer of the Sarasota Film Festival. He serves on the Executive Board of the Nantucket Film Festival and as well as The Screenwriters Colony (Nantucket). Mark believes the island of Nantucket is particularly well-suited for presentation of a world-class music festival and is committed to supporting local arts and human services organizations on Nantucket.
